Frequently Asked Questions

How much does therapy cost at Hummingbird Therapy Group?

Our therapists offer a free 15-minute phone consultation for new clients to answer any questions, talk about logistics, and to make sure that we are a good fit.

For therapy with Meredith, sessions cost $215 for individuals and $245 for couples.

For therapy with Becca, sessions cost $210 for individuals and $245 for couples.

A reduced fee may be available based on need. Please speak with your therapist for details.

Do you accept insurance?

We operate as a self-pay practice and are considered out-of-network providers. This allows our clinicians to dedicate more time and attention to your care, reduce administrative barriers, and maintain the quality and consistency of our work together.

Depending on your plan, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement through your insurance benefits. We provide superbills and are happy to support clients in navigating this process when possible.

What is a superbill?

A superbill is an itemized receipt for therapy services that can be submitted to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. It can actually be a pretty simple process. We encourage you to reach out to your insurance company to learn more about your out-of-network benefits.

Do you see clients in person or virtually?

Hummingbird Therapy Group is exclusively virtual at this time. We may serve all residents of California via telehealth. Ultimately, our plan is to work in person in our own inviting and comfortable office space in San Diego. Your therapist will communicate with you as soon as they have an update on that timeline.

What can I expect from my first session?

Your first session will be about building trust and rapport with your therapist. It is not only an opportunity for your therapist to learn about what brings you to therapy now, but more importantly, it will be an opportunity for you to assess if your therapist is a good fit for your needs. Hummingbird Therapy Group hopes to offer you a safe, supportive space to share and begin to heal.
