Emotional Support Animal (ESA) Letters
ESA FAQs
What is an ESA?
An Emotional Support Animal provides comfort, companionship, and emotional support that can help lessen the impact of mental health symptoms.
Is an ESA a service animal?
No. ESAs are different from service animals and are not granted access to public spaces beyond housing protections.
What does an ESA letter cover?
A valid ESA letter allows for reasonable housing accommodations, such as living with an animal in no-pet housing.
Can any pet qualify?
ESAs can be any domesticated animal that provides emotional support. Assessment focuses on the person's clinical need.
How does someone get started?
Clients can contact us directly to schedule a consultation or intake appointment. After completing the required sessions, we determine whether an ESA letter is clinically appropriate.
It’s OK to accept help.
We offer Emotional Support Animal (ESA) letters for current clients who have attended at least four (4) therapy sessions and for whom an ESA is clinically appropriate.
ESA Letter Fee: $100 (not covered by insurance)
Eligibility: Must be an established client; new clients are not eligible for one-time ESA evaluations
Clinical Requirement: ESA recommendations are made only when therapeutically warranted, following a documented mental health diagnosis and assessment
If you are interested in discussing whether an ESA may be helpful in your treatment, please bring it up with your therapist during a scheduled session.
